The Burwood Highway Apartments are a prime example of our personable approach, listening and designing to the needs of our clients first and foremost. In this instance our client came to us with an opportunity to design for a multi-residential context, but beyond this there was no set brief. Rather, they engaged us to help them explore and evaluate various solutions before settling on a proposal which would afford them the best yield, as well as future-proofing for market trends.
A project that is now moving into the documentation phase, it required a high-level of involvement and multi-faceted servicing on our part. From yield and product offering, to design to planning permissions, our hands-on way of working saw us reliably balance the potential of the site, and the efficiency of the build.
Located in a growth residential area, we opted to transfigure the usual multi-residential model and take a more diversified approach, considering the shift in the local market. Our design provides for a flexible and varied market appeal
The project comprises versatile two to four-bedroom apartments as a podium. Above which the centrepiece double storey skyhomes sit atop. each of these boasts premium views with wide outdoor connection via generous sliding doors to private balconies. An innovative open corridor between these units makes them feel and function like townhouses in the sky rather than typical apartments.
The skyhomes heighten the efficiency of the spatial layout removing the need for a costly 2nd basement by minimising the car parking requirements and simultaneously allowing for generous landscaping opportunities.
The aesthetic of the facade is defined by the dynamic, angular chamfers that punctuate the urban setting elegantly giving it a landmark quality in the face of its lower budget development surrounds.
