This project presented an opportunity for us to create a full masterplan design of a large-scale office and community precinct in a northern Melbourne urban growth zone.
Our client’s brief presented several challenges including the need for the precinct to have a wide appeal and multifunctionality. The complex design also needed to be completed within a very tight timeline.
We injected diverse energy into the precinct by paying particular attention to making an attraction of all communal zones, particularly between key structures. The appeal of these spaces will see the area become a lively community hub, with office workers inclined to relax here and inviting others to do the same.
By collaboratively workshopping with our client from the outset of the process, we uncovered the possible complimentary uses of the spaces that could be facilitated through sound design choices. For example, the plaza interface converges with the surrounding outdoor areas where landscaping considerations incorporate benches and shaded congregation zones, surrounded by greenery.
Our design outcome encompasses office space, retail outlets, a function centre, hotel, restaurant and hospitality facilities. We advocated for community amenity throughout the process, adding to the potential value of the site. The project is now moving through to the pre-sale phase.
Despite the complexity of the brief requirements and design, we delivered beyond expectation with a full set of master plans, including realisation of detailed individual building design and a complete full fly-through animation.
